PSG denied top spot by ruthless Benfica

Juventus 1-2 Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain had to settle for a second-place finish in Group H despite beating Juventus 2-1 at Allianz Arena.

PSG were without Neymar due to suspension and Carlos Soler stepped in to support Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi upfront.

Mbappe fired the Parisians ahead on 13 minutes with a cracking shot that went in off the post from the edge of the box after an offload from Messi.

Leonardo Bonucci restored parity for Bianconeri just before the interval with a close-range finish after a knocked down header by Juan Cuadrado.

Nuno Mendes snatched the winner for the French giants 21 minutes before time after he was setup by Mbappe.

PSG ended equal on points and goal difference with Benfica and the Portuguese side edged them on goals scored away.

Juventus just about qualified for the the UEFA Europa League after finishing equal on points with Maccabi Haifa. 

Real Madrid 5-1 Celtic

Real Madrid, who were already through to the last 16, topped Group F after thrashing Celtic 5-1 in the last round-robin game at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos were given a head start from early penalty calls after Luka Modric fired them ahead from the spot-kick inside the first six minutes.

Rodrygo doubled Madrid's lead on 21 minutes from another penalty after Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review for a handball in the box.

Celtic had their own penalty to reduce the deficit ten minutes before the break but Josip Juranovic's kick from 12-yards was saved by goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Marco Asensio eventually put the game beyond doubt for Carlo Ancelotti's charges early in the second stanza, Vinicius Junior made it 4-0 around the hour-mark.

The hosts ran riot as Federico Valverde got their fifth goal 19 minutes before time and Jota scored a consolation goal for Celtic in the last six minutes with a cracking free-kick.

Manchester City 3-1 Sevilla

Group G leaders Manchester City ended the section unbeaten after a 3-1 victory over Sevilla at the Etihad Stadium.

Jack Grealish took the place of the injured Erling Haaland for Man City, as he joined Julian Alvarez and Riyad Mahrez upfront in a vastly changed line-up.

In an open contest, Rafa Mir eventually broke the deadlock for Sevilla on the half-hour mark with a header at the back post after a corner by Isco.

City only found the equaliser early in the second stanza courtesy of a finish by Rico Lewis after a through ball by Alvarez.

Alvarez gave Pep Guardiola's charges the lead on 73 minutes with a composed shot after he was setup by Kevin De Bruyne, who had just come on.

Mahrez wrapped up the win with a well placed effort seven minutes before time after Alvarez played him through on goal.

Sevilla dropped down to the UEFA Europa League.

Chelsea 2-1 Dinamo Zagreb

Chelsea secured top spot in Group E after a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb at Stamford Bridge.

With qualification to the last 16 already secured, the Blues rang the changes, as Denis Zakaria got his debut alongside the return from injury of Kalidou Koulibaly.

Dinamo had a strong start as Bruno Petkovic gave them an early lead with a header from close-range.

However, Raheem Sterling pulled Graham Potter's charges level on 18 minutes with an arrowed low shot that found the bottom corner.

Zakaria gave Chelsea the lead on the half-hour mark with a strike that could not be kept off the line after he was left unmarked in the box.

AC Milan 3-0 RB Salzburg

AC Milan secured their spot in the last 16 after drubbing RB Salzburg 4-0 in the last Group E clash at Stadio Guiseppe Meazza.

Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for the Rossoneri on 14 minutes and Rade Krunic doubled their lead just after the half-time break.

Olivier Giroud put the game beyond doubt for Milan shortly before the hour-mark and Junior Messias rounded off the thrashing in stoppage time.

Salzburg had to settle for a spot in the UEFA Europa League.

FC Copenhagen 1-1 Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund, who were already through, ended their Group G campaign with a 1-1 draw against FC Copenhagen at Parken Stadium.

Thorgan Hazard broke the deadlock for Dortmund midway into the second stanza but Hakon Arnar Haraldsson levelled matters for Copenhagen shortly before the interval.

Shakhtar Donetsk  0-4 RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig booked their spot in the round of 16 after a resounding 4-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the final game of Group F at Stadion Wojska Polskiego.

Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring for the Red Bulls on ten minutes and Andre Silva doubled their lead five minutes into the second stanza.

Dominik Szoboszlai put the game to bed for the visitors shortly after the hour-mark and Dani Olmo rubbed salt into the wounds of Shakhtar with 22 minutes remaining.

Maccabi Haifa 1-6 Benfica

Benfica pipped Paris Saint-Germain to top spot in Group H after hammering Maccabi Haifa 6-1 at Sammy Ofer Stadium.

Goncalo Ramos broke the deadlock for Benfica on 20 minutes and Tjaronn Chery pulled Maccabi level six minutes later.

Peter Musa gave the Portuguese side the lead on the hour-mark and the floodgates opened, as Alex Grimaldo and Rafa Silva got two further goals in the closing stages to put the game to bed.

Henrique Araujo and Joao Mario got two goals in the dying minutes, as the visitors ran riot.

Benfica ended with an identical record with PSG and qualified as group winners due to more goals scored away from home.

Maccabi missed out on the UEFA Europa League spot on a head-to-head rule compared to Juventus, after both sides finished equal on points.
