UEFA Europa League match report Sevilla v Inter Milan 21 August 2020

Sevilla secured a record sixth UEFA Europa League crown with an entertaining 3-2 victory Inter Milan in the final on Friday evening.

Inter manager Antonio Conte kept the same line-up from their last three matches in the competition, while Sevilla's super-sub against Manchester United last Sunday Luuk de Jong lead the attack from the off this time.

Inter raced to a fifth minute lead after Romelu Lukaku slotted home from the penalty spot after being hacked down in the area by Diego Carlos, who was booked in the process.

The Spaniards found a reply on 12 minutes when de Jong arrived at the near post to head into the roof of the net despite the efforts of Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

Sevilla's confidence grew following the equaliser as Lucas Ocampos cut in from the far side on the left after 21 minutes before firing into the side-netting from an acute angle.

The turnaround from the LaLiga outfit was complete after De Jong bagged his second with a towering header into the far corner on 33 minutes following Ever Banega's free-kick.

Inter were level again after two minutes when Diego Godin carved space at the far post to head home Marcelo Brozovic's pin-point free-kick.

No changes following the resumption of the second half happened as a wild first-time strike from Carlos outside the area flew over.

Los Palanganas launched a wonderful spell of play on 57 minutes after Ocampos ran at Godin off Sergio Reguilon's ball before going into the side-netting from a tight angle.

Ocampos' venture ended in the latter stages, as Munir El Haddadi entered whilst Yassine Bounou thwarted Lukaku from close-range moments prior.

Sevilla seized control of the contest in the 74th minute after an overhead kick from Carlos took a deflection off Lukaku and sailed into the back of the net.

The Italians chased the equaliser with a triple substitution in Christian Eriksen, Victor Moses and Alexis Sanchez, but Julen Lopetegui's side held on for a record sixth Europa crown.
