Ukraine 0-0 Belgium
Belgium were denied victory in the final match in Group E in the 2024 European Championship after a 1-1 draw with Ukraine on Wednesday.
One new face for the Red Devils after the win over Romania had Leandro Trossard come in for Dodi Lukebakio, whilst Ukraine named Oleksandr Zinchenko and Andriy Yarmolenko on the bench.
The Ukrainians looked to bag the opener on the stroke of halftime through Artem Dovbyk at the back-post from a layoff by Roman Yaremchuk, but he was courted.
After a quiet opening half, the Red Devils were able to come to life and sprung up a few chances none more than a curler by Romelu Lukaku off a layoff by Kevin De Bruyne.
Both teams enjoyed moments to go ahead and claimed all points on offer, but neither were able to find the cutting edge therefore settled for a point each.
As it finished all square, the Red Devils progressed to the next phase of the tournament with the Ukrainians unfortunately eliminated after finishing bottom of the group.
Slovakia 1-1 Romania
Romania clinched top spot in Group E after a 1-1 draw with Slovakia and entered the knockout stages of the tournament.
David Strelec came in for the Slovaks outfit and replaced Robert Bozenik after the loss to Ukraine, with Ianis Hagi shown a maiden start of the tournament, with Florinel Coman hauled in by Romania.
Slovakia had a chance to advance to the knockout stages and looked well on their way as Ondrej Duda jumped high in the area to head in calmly.
The Tricolours' heads didn't drop but bounced back right in the opening quarter-hour when Razvan Marin tucked in from the spot after a foul in the box.
With the match keenly poised, the set of teams pushed each other relentlessly for the winner but neither were able to get over the line.
Therefore, the spoils were shared given in the inability of either up top as the Tricolours joined by the Slovaks advanced to the knockout stages.
