The Netherland booked their spot in the European Championship quarter-finals after defeating Romania 3-0 on Tuesday evening.
Denzel Dumfries, Steven Bergwijn and Xavi Simons filled back in for the Dutch, replacing Donyell Malen, Joey Veerman and Lutsharel Geertruida, while Dennis Man and Vasile Mogos made up the changes for Romania – the latter making his first start of the tournament.
Man appeared good earlier on and aimed to cut in the side of Nathan Ake to get a clean sight to goal, but the Manchester City managed to stand his ground.
The Dutch still pulled ahead on 20 minutes as a clever pass from Simons set out Coady Gakpo to step inside for an angle and finished smartly into the near post.
Romania needed to turn attention to the substitutes bench around the closing phases to the half as Mogos picked up an injury and was withdrawn for Bogdan Racovitan.
With the tie poised, the Dutch should've added a second minutes in the resumption through Memphis Depay from a cutback by Dumfries but he was smothered timeously.
The Oranje did have the ball in the net in the midway stages courtesy of another stern finish from point-blank range by Gakpo, but unfortunately it was called back and flagged for offside.
Depay lookd to go one better than his compatriot a little later with a free-kick in a promising position, but he didn't manage to get the desired effect.
Netherlands eventually added a second in the final seven minutes after Gakpo wrestled for possession from a narrow angle and cutback for substitute Malen to tap in.
Malen completed his brace in added time when he collected an assist from Simons to go clear and curled in to wrap up the contest and send the Dutch into the quarter-finals.
