Euro 2024 last 8 fixtures confirmed

The quarter-final fixtures for the 2024 European Championship has been confirmed after Turkey eliminated Austria on Tuesday night.

Suspensions forced the Turks to miss influential skipper Hakan Calhanoglu, whereas Konrad Laimer,Christoph Baumgartner, Phillipp Mwene, Kevin Danso earned recalls for the Austrians.

It didn't take long for matters to get going this as Turkey hit the front within a minute when Merih Demiral took full advantage of poor defending from a corner-kick and profited.

Demiral endured a busy opening ten minutes and was needed at the other end to produce a goal line clearance and prevent Romano Schmid finding the back of the net.

With a succession of attacks by Das Team lacking rhythm, Turkey keenly looked to hit on the turnover where Arda Guler charged ahead before launching from 40-yards though bagged wide.

A lot of the forward ventures either side battled momentum, but broke down substantially amid the respective qualities of Guler, Baris Yilmaz and Marko Arnautovic.

Das Team made a double substitution before the start of the second half and saw Mwene make way for Alexander Prass before Michael Gregoritsch replaced Schmid.

However, the Turks weren't fazed and added to their tally 12 minutes in the resumption where a delivery from Guler rolled through to Demiral to head in the near post and completed his brace.

Austria reduced matters in the midway exchanges of the second period as substitute Gregoritsch ran onto a knockdown by Stefan Posch following a corner and tucked in.

The goal rattled the Turks to a certain degree and pinned them to their half which limited their spaces, but goalkeeper Gunok ensured they advanced after producing a superb save to keep out Baumgartner's header in the six-yard box.
