Player 'punches fan' before crucial EURO 2024 clash

A player at the European Championship reportedly got involved in a fight with a supporter just days before the final group stage clash.

Serbia backup goalkeeper did not feature in any of the group stage matches this campaign, but he was not short of any action off the field.

According to Serbian publication Telegraf,  Vanja Milinkovic-Savic went to a bar in Munich during an off day for the Serbian players.

It has been claimed that a fan spotted the goalkeeper and confronted him as to why he was not with the rest of team preparing for their final group game against Denmark.

The report claims that is when the situation flared up as Milinkovic-Savic was accused of swearing at the fan before throwing a punch.

The owner of the bar spoke to Telegraf and gave his account of the alleged altercation between the Serbia international and fan.

"Vanja came to our bar, but the security at the entrance didn't recognise him and they didn't want to let him in because he was wearing the national team shorts, which made him angry and there was a fight," the owner said.

"I soon intervened, I grabbed his hand and told him to come in with me, but he refused. Everything happened in the bar's garden.

"I didn't hear what they said at him and what they said to each other. I'm glad that in the end we resolved everything."
