Spain captain Sergio Ramos has set a new world record after becoming the world's highest-scoring defender in international football.
Ramos played a starring role for La Furia Roja in their 4-0 UEFA Nations League A win over Ukraine on Sunday evening where he led from the front by netting twice within the opening half-hour.
The 34-year-old was on the scoresheet as early as the third minute, when he netted from the penalty spot after Ansu Fati had been fouled by Sergey Kryvstov, before writing his name into the history books with a looping header following a well-worked set-piece move.
Ramos' second goal of the night was his 23rd in a Spain jersey, and saw him break former Argentina captain Daniel Passarella's record for the most international goals by a defender.

The Real Madrid star, who is Spain's most-capped player of all time with 172 international appearances, is now also his nation's joint-eighth highest goalscorer of all time after drawing level with former Los Blancos legend Alfredo Di Stefano.
His latest milestone comes just over two months after he became the highest-scoring defender in LaLiga history, with 68 goals to his name across spells with Sevilla and Real.
