England get back to winning ways in UNL

England bounced back from the disappointing loss to Greece to defeat Finland 3-1 in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday evening.

There were a few changes from the loss to Greece, with goalkeeper Dean Henderson getting a start, while Harry Kane, Jack Grealish and Angel Gomes were also given starting berths by interim manager Lee Carsley.

Grealish enjoyed a dream return to the fold after latching onto a delightful through pass from Gomes to make a timeous run to the area before comfortably beating Lukas Hradecky.

Few worrying signs for the Three Lions showed a while later where a couple of deliveries launched by the host entered the six-yard area, but no one was able to profit.

Carsley's men were still on the back-foot and conceded more openings towards the latter quarter with Topi Keskinen bypassing John Stones to go clear, but Henderson handled danger.

England continued to battle against the home team who desperately looked for a way back but remained compact all-round and managed to weather the storm.

The home team posed more danger a minute in the second half where a three-on-three move involving Keskinen left the Three Lions worried, but nothing came of it at the end.

Finland did squander a golden chance ten minutes from the break after Fredrik Jensen guided a teasing delivery from Keskinen over the top with the goal at his mercy.

Substitutions by Carsley saw Ollie Watkins come on to replace the skipper Kane before Noni Madueke stepped in to replace Cole Palmer in the latter stages.

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold put the clash beyond doubt around the closing ten minutes with a tremendous free-kick from way out of the area.

The scoring feast weren't over as the English added a third in the final five minutes when Declan Rice ran onto a cutback from Watkins to bundle in.

Finland did get a consolation goal in the dying minutes with Arttu Hoskonen using his aerial prowess to head in a corner, as the Three Lions snatched the victory.
