UEFA Nations League match report Spain vs Switzerland

Ansu Fati earned a recall from Wednesday's goalless draw against Portugal as did Mikel Oyarzabal, Sergio Ramos, Ferran Torres, Jose Gaya and goalkeeper David De Gea.

Oyarzabal went on to justify his inclusion 14 minutes in when the Real Sociedad man applied a first-time strike en-route to drilling home Mikel Merino's assist.

The opening goal came right after De Gea needed to get down to parry Loris Benito from a promising position following decent build-up play from the Swiss attacking compartment.

Switzerland were feeling the heat on the half-hour mark as a move down the right from Jesus Navas culminated with a cross right on the head of Torres, but Yann Sommer went down to turn away.

A big chance for La Roja went abagging nine minutes after halftime as Oyarzabal made a timeous run towards the area, but the attacker failed to beat Sommer who parried.

The Swiss brought De Gea to work moments thereafter when Admir Mehmedi took aim near the area with an opening out of virtually nothing.

Spain introduced fresh legs soon before the midway stage of the second half, as Adama Traore made his second appearance in place of Fati while Sergio Canales came in for Daniel Olmo.

A ball from the left-side of the area by Luis Enrique's side on 61 minutes unleashed Merino, who from a decent position failed to work Sommer.

Spain started living on the edge as the clock began to wind down, but the Swiss didn't utilise the situation to their benefit thus leaving La Roja to victory.
