UEFA Nations League wrap: Kylian Mbappe guides France past Swedes

World champions France scraped to a 1-0 win over Sweden in their opening UEFA Nations League clash at the Friends Arena in Stockholm on Saturday evening.

Les Blues went with an all-out attacking trio in Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud, whereas Sweden had Manchester United's Victor Lindelof in the heart of defence.

The winner came four minutes before halftime through Paris Saint-Germain's Mbappe, whilst Griezmann missed a penalty in the dying minutes.

A date with Croatia awaits Les Blues on Tuesday in a repeat of the 2018 World Cup final in Russia, while Sweden face the Nations League's inaugural winners Portugal.

Belgium raced to a 2-0 victory over Denmark in their Nations League opener at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.

New Tottenham Hotspur signing Pierre-Emile Hojberg along with Inter Milan's Christian Eriksen started for the Danes, as Romelu Lukaku led the line for Belgium with Eden Hazard on the bench.

Jason Denayer opened proceedings following a ninth minute finish before Dries Mertens put the result beyond doubt in the final 13 minutes of the match.

Belgium welcome Iceland in their next encounter in Brussels on Tuesday, as the Danes entertain Gareth Southgate's England.
