Ahead of Portugal's opening 2022 FIFA World Cup match on Thursday, Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed he has no regrets about the timing of his tell-all interview, saying he "speaks when he wants to".
The 37-year-old has been a trending topic ever since his contentious sit-down with Piers Morgan surfaced online last week.
In it, the player seemed to burn bridges with his club United, manager Erik ten Hag, former boss Ralf Rangnick, and former teammates Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville as he made scathing comments about the aforementioned individuals as well as his employers.

He accused the club of betraying him, and also stated that he has no respect for the Red Devils head coach.
United have since taken the matter up for an internal review, with some, including club legend Rio Ferdinand, believing there is no going back for the veteran forward and that his days at Old Trafford are numbered following his remarks.
Now, speaking in a press conference on Monday morning, Ronaldo revealed he has no concerns about the timing of the explosive interview

"In my life, the best timing is always my timing," he said ahead of Portugal's World Cup clash against Ghana on Thursday.
"I don't have to think about what other people think. I speak when I want.
"The players know me really well for many years and know the type of person I am.
"It's an ambitious group (Portugal) that is hungry and focused. So I'm sure it (the interview) won't shake the changing room's concentration and focus.
Having missed a warm-up game against Nigeria last week, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner also confirmed he is ready for Portugal's opener against Ghana.
"I'm feeling great, I'm recovered and I'm training well and ready to start the World Cup in the best way possible," he added.
"I feel that this Portugal squad has amazing potential. I think we can win, for sure, but we need to focus on the next game. So, it's focusing on Ghana, get a win and go from there.

"We will see in the end who the best team is, but I believe Portugal is the best team in this World Cup. But we need to show it on the pitch."
