Female star Rebecca Adams moves to Brazil

Just weeks after Banyana Banyana lifted their first ever Women's Africa Cup of Nations and ahead of two friendly international matches against Brazil, the country has had a footballer moving across the South Atlantic Ocean.

Cape Town-born forward Rebecca-Joy Adams has joined Brazilian club Sao Bernardo and is currently playing in the Campeonato Paulista de Futebol Feminino (the women's football state championship of Sao Paulo).

"I have always wanted to play in Brazil, so this is about fulfilling my dreams. I have done what I have always wanted to do," he tells KickOff from Brazil.

Adams is aged 22 and plays as either a right winger or striker.

"How I got this opportunity here in Brazil is that while I was playing for North-East Texas Community College while on a scholarship in the USA my video was sent to the professionals teams in Brazil.

"Now after completing my studies this opportunity then came.

"This is also a continuation of my career having played this game since I was six and was previously with Vasco da Gama and UWC (University of the Western Cape)," Adams tells snl24.com/kickoff from Brazil.

Adams is a Banyana Banyana hopeful who was with Leandra Smeda and Thembi Kgatlana at UWC.
