New club 'wants' Ronaldo, but only on one condition

A new club is reportedly interested in signing Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in January, but only on one condition.

Having suffered one of the worst starts to a campaign in United's colours this season, speculation around the Portugal international's future continues to grow amid his struggles under new manager Erik ten Hag, despite the player scoring the 700th club goal of his career against Everton on Sunday night.

The 37-year-old is now in the final year of his contract, and there have been suggestions the Red Devils will not look to exercise their option to extend his stay for another year.

With the No. 7 having been desperate to join a club competing in the UEFA Champions League ahead of the current campaign, some reports in England have speculated that he will have a last throw of the dice in January at finding a team that will afford him the opportunity to once again compete among Europe's elite.

However, a potential non-European suitor has now emerged, with MLS side Inter Miami, co-owned by Red Devils legend David Beckham, said to be interested in the veteran forward's services and want to make a move for him at the turn of the year, per the Daily Mail.

While it is unclear whether or not Ronaldo would be keen to move to the United States, though, the Florida club would reportedly only be willing to sign him if he arrived on a free transfer.

It is believed Ten Hag's side would likely expect a fee for the marksman in January, with £10 million (R201 million) thought to be the desired asking price.
