Despite winning their fifth UCL trophy in nine seasons, though the Spanish side showed no signs of resting on their laurels as they paid Monaco €80 million (R1.4 billion) to sign Aurelien Tchouameni in the most recent transfer window.
Once the midfielder and defender Antonio Rudiger had completed their moves to Santiago Bernabeu in July, manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that the club was done spending in the market.
With Tchouameni immediately earning a place in the LaLiga giants' starting line-up, Manchester United swooped in to buy Casemiro from Los Blancos for €70 million (R1.2 billion).
According to Spanish outlet Diario AS, Real are now ready to spend the funds they made from the Brazilian's sale, and are plotting to launch a bid for Manchester City star Joao Cancelo.
Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has reportedly made the Portuguese fullback a priority target as a successor to injury-plagued right-back Dani Carvajal, while he could also operate as a back-up option to left-back Ferland Mendy.
However, his contract could potentially be a stumbling block as it only expires in 2027.

It is further claimed that, if they can convince City to sell, Real might have to pay in excess of €70 million (R1.2 billion) for the player, who has two goals and five assists to his name for the Citizens so far this season.
