Following his heroics in Argentina's monumental 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph, captain Lionel Messi has confirmed his future with the national team following the conclusion of the tournament.
Messi was the star of the show in Argentina's iconic victory over 2018 champions France on Sunday, with the 35-year-old being named Man of the Match ahead of club teammate Kylian Mbappe, who became the first player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final since 1966.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner has been nothing short of sensational in Qatar, having registered 10 goal involvements in seven matches at the competition to be named the Player of the Tournament.
In the build-up to the World Cup, Messi had revealed that this edition of the showpiece would be his last showing at the event, seemingly suggesting that he would be retiring after the spectacle in the Middle East.
However, in the wake of the Albiceleste's triumph on Sunday, the Paris Saint-Germain superstar ruled out the possibility of calling time on his international career.
"No, I'm not going to retire from the national team," Messi told TyC Sports.
"I want to keep playing as World Cup champions with the Argentina shirt."
The former FC Barcelona No. 10 also took to social media to react to his team's huge success, having now won every available trophy in his career.
"Champions of the world!" he wrote on Instagram.
"So many times I dreamed it, so much I wanted it that I still don't fall, I can't believe it...
"Thank you so much to my family, to all who support me and also to all who believed in us. We prove once again that Argentinians when we fight together and united we are able to achieve what we aim. The merit is of this group, which is above individuals, is the strength of all fighting for the same dream that was also the one of all Argentinians... We did it!!!

According to the Daily Mail, Messi, who has now netted 98 times for the Albiceleste, also became the first player in World Cup history to score in every round of the tournament.
