Arsenal cruise to FA Cup fourth round

Arsenal sealed their spot in the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 victory over League One side Oxford United on Monday night.

Fabio Vieira, Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga were called up to the Arsenal line-up, which also included Matt Turner, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Rob Holding.

The Gunners dominated from the onset as expected but even with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in the attack, they failed to register a shot at goal in the first 30 minutes.

That was the trend for the remainder of the first half, as Arteta's failed to take advantage of their dominance against an Oxford side who offered very little in attack.

After a disappointing first half, Oxford went close to breaking the deadlock on 57 minute but Turner denied Matt Taylor in a one-on-one situation on the edge of the box.

The Premier League leaders would go on to get the opening goal in the 63rd minute when Vieira's superb free-kick was headed home by Elneny.

The Gunners' second goal arrived on 70 minutes when Vieira showed great control and composure to play Eddie Nketiah through on goal, with the striker firing into an empty net after rounding the Oxford goalkeeper.

Nketiah completed his brace six minutes later after latching onto Martinelli's through-ball before calmly lobbing the ball over Edward McGinty.

The visitors did go in search of more goals in the closing stages, but they were unable to find the target as three goals were enough to get the job done.

As a reward for overcoming Oxford, the Gunners will meet Manchester City at the Etihad in the next round.
