Ten-man Galaxy deny Chiefs three points

Kaizer Chiefs were unable to make it back-to-back wins in the DStv Premiership after drawing 0-0 with ten-man TS Galaxy on Sunday.

Chiefs made one change from the win over Royal AM where defender Zitha Kwinika returned, while Galaxy showed no alterations from the 4-0 victory over Golden Arrows.

The match didn't start on the scheduled time and was delayed for 30 minutes due to overcrowding at the venue, and both teams looked to hit ground following kick-off.

However, the first meaningful threat came through a well-taken set-piece by Bernard Parker in the opening stages though Brandon Peterson pulled off a stop.

Chiefs could've gone ahead around the 20th minute mark when a header by Sifiso Hlanti whisked narrowly past the goal of Vasilije Kolak following Keagan Dolly's delivery.

The Amakhosi didn't stop with the pressure play and before the half-hour mark saw Ashley Du Preez's smart effort go narrowly wide of the mark.

Galaxy decided to make a change ahead of the second half and brought on South American-born Jose Medina Rodriguez in favour of Lifa Hlongwane.

However, the Rockets were reduced to ten players ten minutes after the break when Marks Munyai picked up a second booking before being dismissed for a foul on Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana.

Bimenyimana was unable to carry on from the tackle and forced the Amakhosi to bring on Christian Saile Basomboli in place of the Burundian international.

Chiefs looked to pull one in a little later through a speculative effort by Siyethemba Sithebe, but the former AmaZulu man didn't manage to work Kolak and steered wide.

Substitute Basomboli went close when he rose up for a header from a delivery only to go wide of the mark as the final whistle beckoned.

The Amakhosi as well as the Rockets still struggled to open each other up in the closing stages and settled for a draw, which leaves the Soweto giants fifth on the table and Sead Ramovic's men in tenth place.
