A former DStv Premiership star, who plys his trade in Europe, has opened the door to a return to South Africa.
Ex-Cape Town City goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh left the local game in 2021 when he made a surprise exit to Eredivisie side FC Groningen.
Since making the move, the Dutchman has made 40 appearances and kept 7 clean sheets as things stand.
However, Leeuwenburgh's contract is set to expire at the end of this season and it remains unconfirmed if the Dutch side will extend his deal.
Speaking to KickOff, the 28-year-old revealed that he would not rule out a return.
"I'm open to moving somewhere else, a return to South Africa would interest me," the shot-stopper told KickOff.
"I would consider it if the right club gave me a call.
"if one of the bigger clubs would consider me then i would definitely consider them.
"I enjoyed my time in South Africa where I felt appreciated and that is why I would not a rule out a return"
Leeuwenburgh added that he met with Cape Town City chairman John Comitis during a recent vacation in Cape Town but a potential transfer was not discussed.
The goalkeeper also opened up about why the pressure is more intense in Netherlands.
"There is a big difference between the two countries because here the pressure is a lot higher from my experience," Leeuwenburgh told Kickoff.
"Football is what keeps everybody busy here(Netherlands) and in South Africa it is a bit smaller.

"There is more football fans in Eredivisie and the sport is a bigger picture in the daily lives of people so the pressure is a lot higher as the stadiums are always full.
"For example, in FC Groningen's stadium there is always 20 000 people."
