Farouk Khan, one of the judges on the panel for the DStv Premiership Coach of the Season Award has revealed his candidates so far.

The Stars of Africa Academy director who previously worked as an assistant coach at Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns also highlighted what they usually look for in candidates.

RULANI MOKWENA [Mamelodi Sundowns]

"Well obviously it's got to be Rulani because he is doing so well, you can't ignore him.

"I think most of the other coaches have done pretty well and it's difficult to choose between them.

"So, it's hard to say in the present environment except Rhulani who is coaching a team with so much quality players.

"But take nothing away from him, even with all this quality he has done extremely well he hasn't lost in about 10 games.

"So, you can't argue with that he is obviously on top of the list."

GAVIN HUNT [SuperSport United]

"I believe Gavin should be a candidate because he is coming from a team that's been struggling.

"You know having to change a team that's been going through a bad patch.

"Most of the coaches in the PSL seems to blow hot and cold, one week you see something positive the other week you don't see that.

"TS Galaxy coach [Saed Ramovic] has struggled, Kaizer Chiefs [Arthur Zwane] has struggled, Orlando Pirates have won a cup...maybe it makes him a candidate, but I don't think he has done enough [Jose Riveiro].

"Other coaches have lost their jobs and come back.

"And you got an administrator/coach at Chippa United [Morgan Mammila]."

VASILI MANOUSAKIS PITSO DLADLA [Richards Bay FC]

"How can I forget the Richards Bay coaches.

"They are new in the league; they are joint coaches, and they are doing extremely well.

"Every time a team from the lower division comes up they struggle to win games...besides the fact that they play well they also play good brand of football.

"They are not playing counter-attack football and they have a settled team, so I think we need to compliment them.

"So, for me the three candidates for the Coach of the Season Award would be Rulani, Gavin and the two coaches from Richards Bay.

"There's a number of things they look for, I was involved with the Coach of The Month, Player Of The Month, what I looked at basically was consistency, I looked at how the team plays, how the team was the season before, how the team has improved and how the coach has improved his players.

"So, if you bring a player like Mvala on board, how did Sundowns improved him, so I look at those things.

"The resources the team have they obviously play a part but it's not the main criteria because the main criteria are results.

"Football is a result driven sport, the more cups you win it's the more chances you have of winning that particular award."
