The South African U-23 side will not be competing at the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations after they failed to defeat Congo Brazzaville on Monday evening.
Mduduzi Shabalala, Antonio Van Wyk, Kgaogelo Chauke and Boitumelo Radiopane slotted in as the visitors four changes from the first-leg clash last Thursday in Dobsonville.
There were very little that separated the two outfits earlier on though there were chances that came about which neither nation managed to tuck away in the end.
As the reverse encounter finished all square with the young South African side having to come back in the second half for a stalemate, the Congolese got an advantage through the away-goal rule.
Forward Radiopane was closest to giving the visiting nation the all-important breakthrough in the remaining five minutes to halftime, but his attempt was saved by the Congolese shot-stopper.
Coach David Notoane made three changes as the second half commenced and called on Samkelo Zwane for Chauke while Ashley Cupido and Bradley Cross filled in for Rushwin Dortley and Van Wyk.
With the young South Africans unable to the get the much-needed goal, the Congolese soaked up the pressure and secured a goalless draw to advance to the next phase on the away-goal rule.
Congo have now sealed their ticket to the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco later this year.
