OFFICIAL: Al Nassr sack manager after Ronaldo 'rift'

Al Nassr have now officially parted ways with manager Rudi Garcia after his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly fell apart.

The Saudi Arabian giants have taken a bold step, announcing that they have terminated their coach's contract by mutual consent after just eight months in charge.

The 59-year-old leaves the side sitting in second place on the Saudi Pro League with just seven games to go in the season.

A statement by the club read: "Al Nassr can announce that Head Coach Rudi Garcia has left the Club by mutual agreement.

"The board and everyone at Al Nassr would like to thank Rudi and his staff for their dedicated work during the past 8 months."

The Knights of Najd also confirmed that their U19 coach, Dinko Jelicic, will be the new head coach for the first team.

However, it is unclear how long Jelicic will be in charge, with recent reports suggesting that the club has offered AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho a record-breaking €100 million (R1.9 billion) deal to take charge for two seasons.

The decision to sack Garcia is likely to leave Ronaldo pleased after various reports claimed that he met with club executives behind the French manager's back and criticised his approach to matches and training.

Al Nassr decision-makers are believed to have agreed with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's assessment on the matter, thus seemingly leading to the former Olympique Lyon manager's swift exit from his role.
