Boehly 'singles out' Chelsea star in dressing-room rant

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly reportedly left a certain player feeling "disillusioned" after his dressing-room rant following the side's recent defeat to Brighton Hove Albion.

The Blues' 2-1 loss to the Seagulls on the weekend marked their 12th defeat of the season, and caretaker manager Frank Lampard's third in a row since taking charge, to see them remain in the bottom half of the table with 39 points.

While a transitional period was expected following the Boehly-led consortium's takeover of the club last year, not many would have anticipated the club sacking two permanent managers, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, in one season amid some big spending leading to a bloated and unbalanced squad.

With the Blues looking set to miss out on European football next season despite being the biggest spenders across the continent in this campaign, many have been left frustrated by the team's miserable season, including American chairman Boehly, who decided to go down to the dressing room after the match at Stamford Bridge on Saturday to give the players a piece of his mind.

According to The Guardian, an unnamed star, believed to be a senior player and one of the team's newer signings, was left feeling disillusioned after being singled out for some heavy criticism during Boehly's rant, with the billionaire also said to have described the side's performances of late as "embarrassing".

It is further claimed the executive hoped his speech would spark some fight in the players ahead of the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night, in which they are trailing Real Madrid 2-0.

Speaking during a pre-match press conference ahead of their crunch UCL tie, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga revealed that Boehly being in the dressing room after matches is not something new.

"Todd comes to the changing room every game so he had different chats with us after different games," the Spanish shot-stopper said, according to the Metro.

"I'm not going to say what he said, but it is normal when he comes to the changing room."
