Karim Kimvuidi agent: ‘The boy needs a move’

Maritzburg United midfielder Karim Kimvuidi has only needed a single season to make a statement about that his talent needs a move to Gauteng.

Kimvuidi has put in a shift of 28 appearances for Maritzburg since joining from DC Motema Pembe last year and that has already won him plenty admirers.

Orlando Pirates have raised a hand of interest while Kaizer Chiefs have been mentioned ahead of the next transfer window.

Considering all of this, his agent Patrick Bonyeme has spoken out at length about his client who was singled out for praise by Ernst Middendorp before the German left the club last year.

"If it does happen that the boy moves it will be a good thing because our aim with his move to Maritzburg was always about putting himself on the window," says Bonyeme about the 21-year-old.Karim Kimvuidi

"In his first season he has shown that he is deserving of playing in a bigger platform at a club with a bigger audience and greater ambitions instead of playing to survive.

"Maritzburg is not a big team, but we agreed that he plays for them because he needed a move into the league.

"The boy has always been destined to play for the like of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, or Mamelodi Sundowns.

"The boy was in the national team before he moved to South Africa, so we still want him to go back to the national team.

"This season was his first here in South Africa and next season we want him to go back to the national team.

"The truth is that for him to get back into the national team he needs to play for a big team which the Congolese selectors will be able to take notice of," says Bonyeme about Kimvuidi who has been capped at youth level and featured in DR Congo's CHAN team.

"Maritzburg haven't said anything to us about any interest because I'm sure they have something bigger to worry about for now which is surviving.

"However, on the contract we did make all considerations for that if there is a good offer for him at the end of the season the boy must go.

"In his contract, there is an option for him to leave.

"I wanted to make sure that there is an option for him to leave after the first season in the two-year deal that he signed with Maritzburg.

"The boy needs a move.

"That one is for sure that he needs a move.

"It must happen otherwise he might as well go to TP Mazembe where he had an offer before he came here so he can go back there anytime if Maritzburg is relegated.

"At the end of this season, he can leave for any club if there is a good offer based on what is stated on the contract.

"If Maritzburg go down we can't allow for that boy to play in the Mvela League (Motsepe Foundation Championship)."It is impossible.

"That will be impossible.

"If the team is relegated the boy needs to go somewhere else," says Bonyeme while reaveling how the move to Maritzburg came about.

"The boy was with Motema Pembe and in moving to South Africa he had two options.

"There was Maritzburg and Cape Town City, but Maritzburg came with a better offer than Cape Town City which is why we settled for that option.

"He arrived towards the end of last season and an agreement was reached that while his contract and papers were being processed, he will continue training.

"Ernst Middendorp was the coach at the time, and he liked what he saw of the boy," says Bonyeme who has been involved in the moves of Congolese players to this country for the past 20 years and also works in boxing.
