Amid intense interest in Fiston Kalala Mayele, Tanzania giants Young Africans have reportedly tied down the in-demand Congolese striker to a blockbuster new deal to ward off DStv Premiership overtures.

The Congolese striker's new deal will elevate Mayele's monthly earnings above the R220 000 mark, making him the highest earner in Tanzanian football.

Mayele's package includes bonuses for goals and will increase with each year to levels comparable with the better earners in the DStv Premiership.

The benefit is that Mayele his earnings will come tax free.

Mayele has been a subject of transfer talk for several weeks now after it emerged that he was interested in moving to the DStv Premiership with his preferred destination being any of the Big Three.

The dreadlocked striker – who turns 29 on June 24 – has been has had interest from Iran club Sepahan FC, North Africa, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

With the new deal it means any club keen to snap him up will have to part with at least R10 million.

Mayele was named the 2022/23 Tanzania Premier League Golden Boot award winner with 17 goals and scooped the Tanzania Premier League Player of the Season award.

The Congolese also scored 14 goals (plus three assists) in the CAF club competitions this past season starting with seven in the Champions League before adding another seven after the relegation of Yanga to the Confederation Cup.

Mayele scored a stunning goal for DR Congo on Sunday against Gabon in the AFCON qualifiers.

What was amazing about the goal is that Mayele first had a touch in his own half and then made space for himself on the run to receive the return ball wide on the left before cutting in to unleash screamer from the edge of the box leaving Jean-Noel Amonome stunned.

The wild celebrations from the Congolese told of how much the goals was appreciated.

Prior to the AFCON qualifier against Gabon, Mayele was given 90 minutes in the friendly international victory over Uganda.
