Done deal for Kambala at new club

KickOff.com can confirm that Manuel Kambala has sealed his return to the DStv Premiership after spending the past season playing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Kambala is remembered as the man who broke the hearts of Kaizer Chiefs fans when his equaliser for Baroka denied AmaKhosi the league title on the last day three years ago.

After his departure from Baroka, Kambala spent the past season at Magesi but has now moved on to yet another Limpopo joining Polokwane City.

The 32-year-old has been training with Polokwane for several weeks and this website can now confirm that he has signed a contract.

What is now standing as the next hurdle towards making his debut is the issuing of his work permit.

According to the PSL fixtures list, Polokwane will next be in action in the league on September 25.

Having not been active since the end of last season, Kambala has also been dropped from the Mozambique squad that will play against Benin in the final AFCON qualifier during the upcoming FIFA calendar break.

The Mambas need to avoid defeat at home against Benin to qualify for the finals in Ivory Coast early next year.

The 2023 tournament will be played from January 13 to February 11, 2024, and Kambala will be hoping to have done enough to be in the squad again.
