The winger was recently withdrawn from the Brazil national team squad due to the ongoing controversy, with the matter now said to be in the hands of both Brazilian and Manchester police.

A statement by the club reads: "Manchester United acknowledges the allegations made against Antony and notes that the Police are conducting enquiries.

Reports of the alleged abuse incidents first surfaced in June, when the player's ex-partner claimed that she been assaulted by the 23-year-old on several occasions, including while they were on holiday in Brazil together in 2022 and at a Manchester hotel this year.

The woman alleges that she had to see a doctor after she was headbutted by Antony, while another incident reportedly saw him damage her breast implant after she was brutally punched in the chest by the former Ajax Amsterdam star.

The United attacker has since denied any wrongdoing, while both Brazilian and English authorities continue to look into the matter.

Antony is now the second player at Old Trafford to have become embroiled in an abuse scandal against women after Mason Greenwood, who has since been offloaded to Getafe in LALIGA on loan for the remainder of the season.
