Defender Njabulo Ngcobo should have been awarded a red card during Kaizer Chiefs' defeat to AmaZulu in the Carling Knockout on Saturday, according to renowned former referee Victor Hlungwani.
Although Chiefs suffered their second exit in a cup competition when they fell 1-0 to AmaZulu in the Carling Knockout at FNB Stadium, the Soweto Giants were fortunate to finished the encounter with all eleven players on the field.

Reviewing the match on SoccerZone, Hlungwani revealed that Ngcobo was lucky not not be sent off.
"You see [Njabulo] Ngcobo on Ethan brooks there, he punches Ethan Brooks with a fist there. That is an offense punishable by a red card, it's also serious foul play. If the referee had seen that, he should have issued a red card," Hlungwani said.

"Unfortunately it was not seen because there are a cluster of players but if you use a fist to punch somebody, that is serious foul play, but it was missed by the refereeing team on the team on the day."
The encounter ended in chaotic scenes as Ntseki was hurried down the tunnel by law enforcement as fuming Chiefs supporters hurled objects at the the now-former Amakhosi coach.
Meanwhile, Chiefs go into their next fixture with a technical team makeover as head coach Molefi Ntseki has parted ways with the club following a run of poor performances. Ntseki has been replaced by interim coach Cavin Johnson.

Assistant coach Arthur Zwane has also been redeployed back to the youth structures, while Dillon Sheppard remains to serve as Johnson's assistant.
Chiefs take on in-form Lamontville Golden Arrows at Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday.
