In the CAF Champions League, Sundowns are in firm control of their destiny just like they have smooth sailing in the DStv Premiership with eight wins out of eight.

Through their journey this season, Sundowns have had Mokwena as the mastermind behind the 16 wins and one open play defeat.

According to information compiled on each player through games played so far, it shows that Ronwen Williams has been the first name on the team sheet when available.

Williams has stamped his authority to great effect at Sundowns going as far as captaining the team.

The 31-year-old has 19 appearances totalling 1740 minutes and has only missed three games – one in the Carling KnockOut Cup, one in the league, and another in the CAF Champions League.

He was rested on all those three occasions.

The Bafana keeper has kept 14 clean sheets in those 19 games and has not conceded more than two goals in each of the competitions that he has played.

Last season, Williams had 18 clean sheets in 26 league games to set a record for most games without conceding through the PSL era years.

Also given all the trust by Mokwena is top earning midfield wizard Marcelo Allende.

The Chilean has the most minutes of all outfield players at Sundowns with a count of 1689 from 19 appearances.

Such is the effectiveness of Allende that he can function just about anywhere in midfield be it left, right, centre or even playing from deep.

Ticking all the right boxes in midfield is Teboho Mokoena who has played 18 games and has 1578 minutes.

Mokoena is also multi-functional and can do a job anywhere in central midfield and has been worth the salary that he is getting.

Another man who has been raising his hand to good effect despite his documented injury worries is Rivaldo Coetzee.

Riva has been sending reminders about his quality playing either as a holding midfielder or centreback and has featured in 17 games totalling 1376 minutes.
