Mbule opens up on Man of the Match performance

Midfielder Sipho Mbule has shed some light into his Man of the Match performance as Mamelodi Sundowns hammered Cape Town Spurs in the DStv Premiership.

The Brazilians made it 11 wins from 11 league matches with a empathic victory over The Urban Warriors thanks to goals from Sipho Mbule, Peter Shalulile Grant Kekana.

For Mbule, it was only a third start of the season, but the central midfielder showed glimpses of the performances that once saw him tipped as South Africa's next big star while rising through the national team youth ranks.

Speaking to the club's media after the match, Mbule said he was pleased to get some game time and that the team is looking to continue their unbeaten run.

"When the ball came to me, I just controlled it and I took a shot," Mbule said.

"My performance is not just about me, it's the whole team. I got support from the guys that have been playing and the guys that started today.

"I think as they say, it's a team sport and I think it's the work from everyone.

"It's feels great (to get game time) because it's been a while but as you know, we have a lot of games so I think everyone will still get a chance to play.

"We want to continue with this run of being unbeaten I think that is the motto in our team so that we don't we don't we don't lose game coming up.

Next for Sundowns is a CAF Champions League clash against Pyramids to be played in Egypt on Tuesday evening.

"It's a very important game for us because as you can see all the teams (in the group) have four points and we are playing away," added Mbule.

"When they came here (first leg) we played at the draw but I think it's important for us to win so that we give we give ourselves a chance to go to the quarter-finals."
