Swazi star set for Chippa assessment

A Swazi international looks set for an assessment at Chippa United, KickOff can reveal.

Kwakhe Thwala is understood to have arrived at Gqeberha for a week's assessment with the Chilli Boys. Insiders have revealed that Thwala left the King Mswati III International Airport for Johannesburg before connecting a flight to Gqeberha on Sunday morning.

The Mbabane Swallows defender was spotted by Chippa's scouts during the Cosafa tournament held in Durban this year. Indications are that the player has started training with the Chilli Boys on Monday morning.

According to reliable sources close to Swallows, Thwala is also on the wanted list of an unnamed Premier League team in Mozambique.

"He has a good offer in Mozambique. He is currently weighing up the options," said the source.

"He has given Chippa United first preference even though the team wants him to go for assessment first. He is set to stay with Chippa for one week before returning to eSwatini to make a final decision about his future in football," he added.

eSwatini has produced several players who have played their football in South Africa including Dennis Masina Sbusiso Dlamini, Abel Shongwe, Tholeni Nkambule, William Shongwe, Ronnie Dube, Scara Thindwa, Tony Tsabedze and Wonder Nhleko.
