Sundowns star: We want to win the league asap

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Terrence Mashego has opened up on his return to action and the teams' intention to 'win the league as quickly as possible'.

The Brazilians climbed to the top of Group A in the CAF Champions League group stage with a 1-0 win over Pyramids thanks to a Teboho Mokoena strike.

Speaking to the club's media after the match, Mashego admitted it had been a tough encounter in Egypt.

"The first 45 minutes we managed to play, we managed to create chances but the second half it was a bit tough because they were us pressing high so it was a bit challenging we couldn't find our rhythm, we couldn't find our passes but you know we playing away from home, the important thing is three points," Mashego said via the club's media department.

"Our group is difficult because all the teams they won their home games, so now it's about us making sure that we have to win away games because we only have one home game against TP Mazembe and they won today so this group is a bit difficult."

The left-back is also enjoying his time on the pitch, having missed out on a large portion of last season due injury.

"Honestly speaking I'm a bit excited because that's my third 90 minutes so I can see that slowly and slowly I'm getting back my groove, so for me it's important and I'm happy," added Mashego.

It's a difficult team and for us to play away from home and then going back, it will be a bit challenging, but we don't we don't have a choice, we need to fight," he added.
