Broos: Nobody else could be Man of the Match

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos sung the praises of goalkeeper Ronwen Williams who played a key role in helping the side advance to the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.

South Africa ended their 24-year wait for a spot in the semi-finals after defeating Cape Verde via the penalty shoot-out.

Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams kept his fourth successive clean sheet at the tournament and pulled off four saves during penalties to send Bafana to the final four.

Broos claims there was no one else that could have won the Man of the Match award except Williams.

"Let's say six hours ago I was 71, now I'm 75," Broos said after the match, as per SAFA media.

"It was a stressful game, certainly with penalties, you know never what happens when you have to take penalties, it's a very special situation for the players.

"Sometimes you do a little game after training, taking penalties and nearly no player misses a penalty but you see today what happened, not only with us but also the players from Cape Verde.

"So that means, we can be happy, but players want to get a penalty and we were, not lucky because we had a very good keeper today. If you can take four penalties, this is not luck anymore. You can save one, but four, this is not luck.

"He did not only that, he saved us two minutes before the end with a player that was alone infront of him. Yes, he was of the match. I think we could choose nobody else, because he is really the Man of the Match.
