OFFICIAL: Bellingham punished after ref controversy

The Royal Spanish Football Federation has confirmed Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham's punishment following his sending-off against Valencia on Saturday.

The England international has now been slapped with a two-match ban in LALIGA after his actions over the weekend. As a result, he will now miss Los Blancos' next two league fixtures against Celta Vigo and Osasuna.

The 20-year-old thought he had scored the winning goal in stoppage time in Real's 2-2 draw with Valencia.

However, referee Jesus Gil Manzano blew the full-time whistle just before Brahim Diaz delivered the final cross, from which Bellingham scored, as can be seen in the video clip below.

The midfielder was then shown a red card for his protest, with the match official's report stating that the player showed an aggressive attitude and repeatedly shouted "It's a f*****g goal" at the referee.

It was reported that Real would appeal what initially would have been a one-game ban, but the playmaker will now miss two games instead.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti defended the 2023 Golden Boy in his post-match press conference, insisting that the red card was unjustified.

"We were annoyed with Bellingham's red card," Ancelotti said, according to 90min.

"He didn't say any insults. He said in English 'it's a f*****g goal', but he was just saying what we were all thinking.

"[The referee] allowed play to continue. I think he made a mistake. [Bellingham] was clear in what he said.

"He was quite vehement [in his reaction] but that's normal, after what happened. It wasn't an insult, not at all."
