The 38-year-old was officially announced by the club earlier this month, with the club stating on social media: "Crystal Lake FC welcomes the former kaizer chiefs middle fielder willard (salt vinegar) katsande to the Technical Team."
Most recently, the club posted an image of Katsande with a quote that read: "One day I will be a great coach. Not arrogance, but confidence."
The former Urban Warriors holds a CAF D license, which he achieved in 2022 "in order for him to set the path" of his growth because, according to him, this is always what he wanted. He has previously expressed his ambitions of coaching a PSL side one day and even managing his national team.
"I have dreams of moving into coaching because I have the passion and one day, I want to be the head coach of one of the PSL teams," he said.
"My main objective is to coach the Zimbabwe national team."
"I owe football because to get to be where I am today is through football," he added.
