Mamelodi Sundowns booked their spot in the CAF Champions League semi-finals after defeating Young Africans via the penalty shoot-out on Friday.
Mothobi Mvala was named on the bench as Themba Zwane, who missed the first-leg due to suspension, slotted right back in for Masandawana.
Sundowns did have a golden chance to go ahead from a pin-point corner in the heart of the area, but Lucas Ribeiro Costa's glancing header flew across target.
With the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) on display, Yanga's Joyce Lomalisa could've seen red past 15 minutes for a late challenge on Khuliso Mudau though it wasn't issued after a stern review.
Masandawana made further in-roads later on and had Ribeiro Costa's first-time shot on the half-volley from outside the area sail wide of the mark.
The travelling side looked to finish strong as Joseph Gnadou came short to cut in at the near post and launch a shot towards the bottom-corner, but he ended up going wide.
Sundowns got a golden chance ten minutes to halftime when Thembinkosi Lorch beat the offside to get a shot in on the far side, but he was tremendously smothered by Djigui Diarra.
Both teams continued finding the going tough in the second half before a looping header from Peter Shalulile in the box saw Diarra claim a save.
It was a worrying moment midway in the contest for Masandawana as Stephane Aziz Ki's first-time volley from inside the box hit the underside of the bar, with go goal called by the pitch-side officials.
Masandawana still maintained the level of confidence and introduced playmaker Gaston Sirino in the place of Lorch with well under 20 minutes to play.
Sirino almost had an instant impact when he played a one-two out on the left to come inside for the reverse pass, but Diarra met it.
With no goals right throughout, the match went to a penalty shoot-out and two saves from Ronwen Williams helped the host to victory more after Ibrahim Hamad hoofed the decisive kick.
