A former member of Mamelodi Sundowns' coaching set-up may be on the verge of teaming up with Steven Gerrard in the growing landscape of football in Saudi Arabia.
Shawn Bishop spent more than a decade at Chloorkop, where he oversaw the club's development structures, the women's program, and held the position of head of academy and methodology.

Bishop has been based in Portugal since departing from Downs in 2023 and has been involved in various projects, including a role in the All African Games with Uganda's national woman's team.
The highly-rated coach has now been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
According to well-placed sources, the former Downs reserve team assistant coach who helped guide the side to a title in 2018 has been linked with Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ettifaq.
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard currently occupies the role of head coach at the club, and Bishop has been tipped to be appointed as the Knight of Ad-Dahna's head of academy and methodology.
The Pretoria side has previously credited Bishop for his contribution to player development at the club, with 14 players having been promoted to the senior team under his watch, while 26 players rose from the academy to represent other professional teams in the country.

The coach holds a Bachelor of Science in physiology, a Masters in high-performance football – which he had attained through the University of Lisbon – a well as a UEFA A Coaching License and a CBF A license from Brazil, among other qualifications.
