Chiefs players warned: The truth about Nabi

Kaizer Chiefs players have been issued with a stern warning about Nasreddine Nabi's way of operating ahead of his anticipated takeover as head coach at the club.

Nabi will come in as the new Chiefs head coach after spending a year in Morocco with FAR Rabat at the back of having enjoyed success in Tanzania.

The Tunisian-Belgian lost out on the Botola Pro title but is through to the final of the Throne Cup.

What earned Nabi the job at Chiefs – where his earnings will be tripled from what he earned in Tanzania – is that that he won six trophies in two years during his time with Young Africans.

"What I have to make note of is that he is a coach that loves hard workers," Said Juma Makapu tells KickOff from Dar es Salaam.

Makapu played under Nabi at Yanga.

"If you are not a hard worker and committed to your work, then you are going to be in big trouble with Nabi.

"The players need to have good habits for them to be able to work conducive with Nabi.

"Talking about his tactics, he likes to play short passes that align to what happens in a rondo and being able to move the ball fast from one area to another.

"With him, the ball should move fast so that the team gets into the areas where his team can then hurt the opposition.

"I remember during his time at training that we did a lot of rondos.

"What I also need to mention is that he likes disciplined players because for him, when you don't have discipline, then you don't play football.

"I learnt a lot about discipline under him because his demands must be respected all the time.

"He is normally calm and if you make mistakes, he calls you aside and talks without shouting.

"To me, he wasn't like one of those coaches who are always shouting.

"This is also a coach that wants to win all the time, so you must understand how he is bound to react when it is not going his way.

"At the end of the day, he is a good coach and will improve the situation of the team.

"As long as the players at his new team will want to work, then no problem.

"Luckily for him, during his time here in Tanzania, he worked with Cedric Kaze, who spoke Swahili, English, Spanish and French, so communication was made easier for everyone," says Makapu.
