Chiefs changes start ringing loud

The arrival of Tunisian goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi has come with expected sad news for Aubrey Mathibe.

Mathibe has been back at Chiefs for the past two years with his initial appointment having been goalkeeper coach for both the reserve and senior teams.

However, since the departure of Lee Baxter, Mathibe then became a permanent member in the senior team working with Rory Minnaar and Rainer Dinkelacker upon the latter's return to the club.

Mathibe then took a front seat as he got to sit on the bench on matchday, taking charge of training Itumeleng Khune, Bruce Bvuma, Brandon Petersen and Karabo Molefe over the past season.

Unfortunately, with the wave of changes at the club, the 43-year-old will no longer continue in the first team and could find himself in the less glamorous reserve team at best or out of the club at worst.

The Chiefs restructure will have Mzoughi at the helm of the goalkeeping department.

Just like coach-in-waiting Nasreddine Nabi, Mzoughi has his roots in Tunisia and beyond his playing days has worked in North Africa and the Gulf Region.
