A European club has now confirmed the signing of Junior Mendieta following his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Greek outfit Volos NFC have announced the signing of Mendieta on a free transfer after he was released by Masandawana.

The Argentine is the fifth player to leave Sundowns in recent weeks, following the exits of Bongani Zungu, Gaston Sirino, Brian Onyango, and Thabiso Kutumela.
A statement by the Greek club confirmed: "PAE Volos announces the acquisition of the 31-year-old Argentinian midfielder Junior Leandro Mendieta.
"Last season, Mendieta played at Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa, making 29 appearances (2 goals and 3 assists), while in the same league he played for three years with Stellenbosch, making a total of 79 appearances (15 goals and 15 assists).
"In Argentina, he has played in several teams, starting his career with Deportivo Moron, followed by Lanus and Atletico Rafaela, among others.
"Mendieta immediately after signing his new contract went to Portaria where he integrated with the rest of the Volos team and already started training.
"PAE Volos welcomes Junior Leandro Mendieta to its family."
The 31-year-old arrived in South Africa back in 2020 when he joined Stellenbosch FC, but was immediately sent out on loan to Lanus II, the initial club he signed from.
He played just two seasons in the Mother City before securing the big move to reigning South African champions, Downs.

Things did not quite work out for him at Chloorkop, though, as he started just four games in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership campaign.
