Agent responds to Kodisang, Sundowns links

Bafana Bafana midfielder Kobamelo Kodisang's agency has given an update on their client's past season and responded to reports that a move to Mamelodi Sundowns is imminent.

Reports in local media have suggested that Sundowns technical director Flemming Berg has made Kodisang one of the club's targets in the current transfer window and that the club has struck a deal with Portuguese outfit Moreirense, with only the finer details left before a transfer is finalized.

Kodisang was strongly linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, at least initially on loan from Braga two seasons ago, but after negotiations with the Portuguese giants, the deal fell through after the two clubs could not ultimately agree on terms.

The 24-year-old, who struggled for game time in Braga B side, eventually earned a big move to Moreirense in July last year on a permanent transfer, after initially joining them on loan.

After his first season in Primeira Liga, KickOff caught up with Kodisang's agent Mike Makaab, CEO of ProSport International, for his views on the former junior international's season.

The 24-year-old winger has gone under the radar since his move to Moreirense and Makaab challenged the narrative that Kodisang did not have a good campaign.

"People say he didn't have a spectacular season. It was his first season in the topflight of Portugal. He started 19 games and played 12 games as a substitute - that's 31 out of 34 league games," Makaab said.

"You cannot ask for much more than that and Moreirense were not a struggling team, they finished sixth in the topflight."

Pressed on whether a deal for Kodisang to move to Sundowns is on the cards, Makaab responded to this website that "it's just a rumour".
