Chiefs slayer Kambala finds new home

As first reported by KickOff, so-called "Kaizer Chiefs slayer" Manuel Kambala has left Polokwane City and joined a new club.

Following the failure to reach an agreement with the Limpopo club, the former Baroka FC midfielder has now signed with Mozambique football Uniao Desportiva do Songo [UD Songo].

He will link up with former Mamelodi Sundowns star Elias Pelembe at Songo, who lie third on the league table, five points behind table-toppers Black Bulls FC after just 10 matches played in the 12-team league.

Pelembe has been with the club since the beginning of the season.

Before joining Rise and Shine, Kambala played for DStv Premiership rookies Magesi FC.

In June this year, this publication reported that the 32-year-old was on the verge of parting ways with Polokwane City due to certain issues.

Kambala felt the offer that the Limpopo-based side had put on table was not what he expected after helping the team to a Top Eighth finish.

In the 2023/24 season, he played 22 matches in all competitions.

His contract with Polokwane had a duration of one year.

They finished in eighth position on the DStv Premiership log table with 39 points from 30 matches.
