Gonzalez walks into another fire after Chiefs crisis

If the disappointment that defined Kaizer Chiefs' season during Efmamjjasond Gonzalez's loan stay at the club was bad with Amakhosi finishing in the bottom half, then he is in for a worse ride this term.

Instead of offering solutions at Chiefs last season, Gonzalez became part of the problems, which contributed to the team getting knocked in the first round of all three cup competitions and finishing a lowly 10th in the DStv Premiership.

The big Colombian just couldn't fit in at the Soweto giants with the evidence of his struggles proven by his failure to score all season.

Gonzalez was offered 454 minutes (13 appearances) but came out with blanks and it was no surprise when the club made way for his return to Bolivian parent club Real Santa Cruz after the end of his loan.

While he scored in his first match of his return to Santa Cruz 10 days ago, the reality is that he has rejoined a club dealing with worse issues than Chiefs.

Santa Cruz are bottom of the Bolivian Primera Division without a win in the opening six matches, leaving them facing the risk of relegation to the Copa Simon Bolivar (second tier league) if they remain stuck there.

Gonzalez's goal has won them the only point that they have this season as that game ended 1-1.

Santa Cruz have drawn twice and lost nine in the last 11 games that they have played, leaving them as a club in worse crisis than what Chiefs endured last season.
