Ex-Pirates man resurfaces at Baroka

KickOff can reveal that a deal between Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC and former Orlando Pirates midfielder Collins Makgaka is as good as done.

The Marble Hall-born player is looking to revive his professional football career after being released by Sekhukhune United at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Makgaka's promising career took a deep dive following his move from Baroka to Pirates in 2020.

He has tried without success to win himself a regular place at both the Soweto giants and Sekhukhune, and now aims to revive his career after experiencing four frustrating seasons due to a lack of regular game-time.

The dead ball specialist is currently training with the Morgan Mammila-coached outfit intending to land himself another professional contract.

With the only stumbling block at the moment being the player's fitness levels, a deal between the two parties looks set to be completed soon.

"Makgaka has not signed yet," declares club chairman Khurishi Mphahlele, speaking to this website.

"At the moment, he is still out of shape. We are still fixing him.

"At the moment, he lacks fitness. We must work on his fitness. Once we are happy with his fitness, we will not hesitate in signing him."

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder has won two major trophies since turning professional, which is the MTN8 with Pirates, as well as the 2018 Telkom Knockout with Baroka during his first stint with the club.
