Surprise Man Utd star 'agrees deal' to leave Theatre of Dreams

A surprise Manchester United star has now reportedly reached an agreement that could see him depart the Theatre of Dreams in this transfer window.

Scott McTominay has agreed a deal with Turkish champions Galatasaray that would see him earn £4.6 million (about R107 million) a year, according to A Spor journalist Emre Kaplan, per the Daily Express.

While an agreement between the Super Lig club and the player may have been reached, it is believed that United and the Yellow-Reds have not yet agreed on a transfer fee for the midfielder, but it is said the two parties are engaged in ongoing discussions.

Additionally, it is claimed the final decision as to whether or not McTominay is sold lies with manager Erik ten Hag.

The Scot has become an integral member of the first team due to his work rate and versatility – qualities the Dutch tactician might want to keep at Old Trafford.

However, it is also understood that the Red Devils need to bring in some funds after spending just under £90 million (R2.1 billion) to secure the services of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee, in order to remain compliant with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Selling the Scotland international is believed to be one of the English club's few options to command a large fee for a single player, and given that he is a graduate of United's academy, the fee gained from his sale would represent a pure profit for United.

McTominay proved an important member of the first-team set-up during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 10 goals in 43 games across all competitions, making him the joint-third-highest scorer in the squad for the campaign.
