Cape Town Spurs have explained their decision to sell in-demand striker Ashley Cupido to Stellenbosch FC, although the two rivals appear not to be singing from the same hymnbook about how the deal was structured.
On Wednesday, Stellies announced the signing of the young striker from Spurs in a deal that saw their little-known player, Mervin Boji, move in the other direction.

Both clubs have refused to go into detail on how much the Winelands outfit paid for Cupido.
"Stellies came to the table," Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou explains, speaking exclusively to KickOff.
"And everyone was happy with what they've got. It's not a case of us strengthening rivals Stellenbosch, they have also strengthened us.
"Stellenbosch have matched the price," he emphasised.
Efstathiou recently told this website that whoever wanted the lanky marksman should be prepared to pay the price of two Ferraris.
Asked if they reduced Cupido's valuation to just one Ferrari by signing Boji who did not start even a single game for Stellenbosch last season, he denied this was a swap deal, even though that was the message from Stellenbosch's statement announcing the deal.
"Stellenbosch Football Club has secured the permanent signing of Ashley Cupido from Cape Town Spurs in a deal that has seen Mervin Boji move in the opposite direction," read the statement.
Boji was yet to establish himself in the first team, although showed incredible progress during his time spent in their DStv Diski Challenge side, scoring 30 goals from 31 appearances.
"This does not mean Boji was part of the Cupido deal, it just happened to be like that.
"We were interested in Boji and they were interested in Ashley. So, the one has got nothing to do with the other.
"Don't try to make it like they added a player on top of what they paid for Ashley. No, no, no no, no, it was two separate conversations!
"It was a case of two separate deals for two separate players. Why must we mix things up? We bought Boji and they bought Ashley," explains the Urban Warriors' chief executive.

Efstathiou also gave an update on teenage sensation and matriculant Luke "Boere" Baartman, who has also been linked with a move to Stellies.
"Boere is writing Matric, we've decided to let the boy focus. And no, he is not for sale."
