OFFICIAL: Lukaku ends Chelsea nightmare!

Romelu Lukaku has now officially ended his Chelsea nightmare with a permanent exit from Stamford Bridge.

It has been confirmed that the Belgium international has joined Napoli on a reported three-year deal, putting an end to his second spell at Stamford Bridge, during which he him fell out with the club and its fans and spent the majority of it out on loan.

The two clubs are said to have agreed a fee of €30 million (R593 million), plus add-ons and bonuses that could see the deal rise to €45 million (R889 million), making Lukaku the most expensive exit at Chelsea in this window.

In stark contrast to his acrimonious relationship with Chelsea fans, the centre-forward was mobbed by a large group of excited Napoli supporters upon his arrival at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome for his medical on Wednesday morning.

The striker's move to Gli Azzurri has been pending for more than a month as he reportedly agreed to join Napoli early in the window after manager Antonio Conte, whom he worked with at Inter Milan previously, requested his services.

For several weeks, it was suggested that Lukaku's transfer depended on Victor Osimhen's departure from the Naples outfit, with the Nigerian linked with a move in the opposite direction, although it has been insisted that the deals were always separate transactions.
