OFFICIAL: Footballer charged by FA after biting opponent

A footballer in England has now officially been charged by the Football Association after biting an opponent during a recent game.

Preston North End forward Milutin Osmajic has been charged for violent conduct after he seemingly bit Blackburn Rovers defender Owen Beck, who is currently on loan from Liverpool, on the shoulder last weekend.

"It's alleged that the forward committed an act of violent conduct by biting an opponent around the 87th minute," the FA said in a statement on social media.

"Milutin Osmajic has until Monday, September 30, to provide a response."

The incident took place during the latter stage of an EFL Championship encounter that ended in a goalless draw between the two sides.

The game saw two red cards being dished out, with Beck receiving one for kicking out at Duane Holmes, and it was that action that seemingly resulted in Osmajic grabbing the loanee and pressing his head into the defender's back in an apparent attempt to bite him.

The other red card was shown to Preston's Sam Greenwood for a lunge at Lewis Baker.

Speaking about the incident after the game, Blackburn manager John Eustace said, per The Guardian: "[Beck has] got a big bite mark on the back of his neck.

"He's shown all the lads. He's a little bit quiet, a little bit shook up."

Infamously, former Liverpool star Luis Suarez had previously received a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in 2013, so it remains to be seen if Osmajic receives similar punishment.
