In Africa: Davids' victory run halted, Morena off to winning ways

With various South Africans in action across the continent, Fadlu Davids' was unable to continue his winning run, Rulani Mokwena's men endured another stalemate, and Morena Ramoreboli got his side's domestic campaign off to a dream start.

Simba SC were unable to make it five victories in a row in the Tanzanian Premier League when they were held to a thrilling 2-2 draw by Coastal Union FC on Friday.

Captain Mohamed Hussein opened the scoring for the Reds of Msimbazi in the 25th minute, while Leonel Ateba managed to double the home team's lead from the penalty spot just over 10 minutes later, putting a stamp on a dominant first half.

The visitors, however, came back from the break firing, with Abdallah Hassan finding the back of the net from range to get Coastal Union back into the game in the 49th minute.

They then managed to find the equaliser through substitute Hernest Malonga in the 72nd minute.

Morena Ramoreboli, meanwhile, marked his first game of the new Botswana Premier League game with a win as Jwaneng Galaxy picked up a 2-0 victory over VTM FC.

The side will be hoping to continue the rest of the season in the same manner as they look to defend their current status as domestic champions.

In Morocco, Rulani Mokwena's Wydad Athletic Club were held to a 1-1 draw, their second of the season thus far, by Hassania Union Sport Agadir in a Botola Pro 1 encounter on Saturday.

With both sides going into the half-time break without having broken the deadlock, the Red Castle suffered a setback just five minutes after play resumed, when Jamal Ech-Chammakh gave the home team the advantage.

Mokwena's side managed to bring matters back to level terms when Hamza Sakh found the back of the net 20 minutes later. However, the three-time CAF Champions League winners were left frustrated as they were unable to find the winner.

They are currently fifth on the league table after five matches, of which they have won two and lost one.

In Algeria, Khanyisa Mayo's CR Belouizdad were held to a goalless draw by US Biskra on Sunday.

The result marks the team's third draw in as many games.
