Tuchel's lofty salary as England boss revealed?

With reports suggesting Thomas Tuchel will become England's next manager, his handsome salary for the role has seemingly been revealed.

According to widespread reports, Tuchel is set to be announced as the new head coach of the England national team on Wednesday.

The former Chelsea boss looks set to fill the void left by Gareth Southgate when he stepped down from the role in July 2024, and it is believed he will sign an 18-month deal, which will see him lead the Three Lions until the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

According to The Sun, the 51-year-old is set to earn a handsome £5 million (R114.4 million) a year as England boss, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in the international game.

Although that salary is quite lofty, it pales in comparison to the £10 million (R228.8 million) yearly package he was pocketing as Chelsea boss between January 2021 and September 2022.

England have been under the interim leadership of U21 boss Lee Carsley, and it is believed the Englishman will see out the job until January 2025, when it is expected Tuchel will officially take the reins.

Carsley ruled himself out of the England job during the recent international break, stating: "I have been doing the U21s and I am really happy with my job.

"I am an employee of the FA and I was asked to take the senior team, which is a privilege, it was the proudest moment of my career.

"I am really honoured with the chance to manage the senior team. I am in a really fortunate position in that I am on the inside and I can see how much potential this team's got.

"It is one of the best jobs in world football. There aren't many jobs where you've got a chance of winning.

"I believe the coach that comes in has got a really good chance of winning and we deserve the best one that's out there."
