Nabi sweating on magician Sirino's availability

Nasreddine Nabi, head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, has issued an update on the fitness of talisman Gaston Sirino ahead of the Carling Knockout fixture against a tricky SuperSport United outfit.

Sirino has been a revelation for the side since his arrival at the start of the season, contributing two assists and a single goal in the three matches played at this juncture.

However, Chiefs were handed a slight blow when he got injured in their last competitive match, a 2-1 defeat to his former club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Last week, the club's physio Dave Milner estimated that the Uruguayan would be out of competitive action for over a week.

Giving an update while speaking to media at the Carling Knockout Last 16 pre-match press conference, Nabi admitted that the creative midfielder was not 100% ready.

"We felt the absence of Sirino in our last game [against Marumo Gallants]. It shows the importance of that player in the team," Nabi emphasised.

"Maybe he is not fully recovered, but we will try and count on him in the next game. Maybe not the 90 minutes, but we will try and recover him for the game."

It would be interesting to see who the Tunisian-Belgian replaces Sirino with in the starting line-up should he not be available for the key encounter, with the likes of Pule Mmodi, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Mfundo Vilakazi all vying for a spot.

Kick-off at New Peter Mokaba Stadium is at 20:00.
